Event Details

In 2022, the police conducted a survey on the public’s trust in the police, which after the terrorist attack during Oslo Pride 2022 received an enormous response. This revealed that only 37 per cent of the LGBTIQ+ population trusts the police to look after the group’s needs. Furthermore, it showed that a disappointing 40 per cent of respondents had experienced hate crime based on sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, but only eight per cent reported this to the police. The feedback in the survey was an experience of a lack of prioritization, desire and ability to keep the queer part of the population safe, as well as challenges related to attitudes, prejudices and a lack of knowledge on the part of the police.

What measures have been taken by the police both centrally and in the districts since the investigation was completed? What does it take for queers to feel safe and looked after by the security authorities? And what is being done to uncover and investigate more cases of hate crime?
